Son Of Camelot Captures Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes

Living Legend (6g Camelot - Jazz Girl, by Johar) took another huge step forward when lowering the colours of Group 1 winner Yibir in Friday’s Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket.

Mark and Charlie Johnston’s charge came into the mile and a half contest with back-to-back wins to his name, including at Listed level, and was reunited with regular rider Joe Fanning on Friday.

Chasing the leader for much of the way, the son of Camelot led from over two furlongs out and was ridden out inside the final furlong to beat the aforementioned favourite by a length and three quarters.

Owned by Barbara and Alick Richmond, Living Legend is now a seven-time winner, despite having made just 15 starts due to a long lay-off as a four-year-old. The progressive bay is the sole runner bred by Andy Oliver out of the mare Jazz Girl.
