Son Of Camelot Doubles Up With Listed Win
The progressive Current Option (4g Camelot - Coppertop, by Exceed And Excel) provided trainer Adrian McGuinness with his first Stakes success when taking Saturday’s Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork.
The son of Camelot captured a valuable prize at the Galway Festival last week and made a quick return for his first run at Stakes level. Gavin Ryan rode the bay to chase the leader, improving from two furlongs out and led entering the final furlong. Ridden out, he kept on well to win by half a length from Soul Search (Zoffany).
Speaking after the race, the delighted winning trainer said, “He's a smashing horse and we're going to have a lot of fun with him. He's won a stakes race now and is progressing all the time. I'd imagine we'll look at another Listed race for him in three weeks' time over seven furlongs and we'll probably find something for him over Irish Champions Weekend, although I didn't enter him in the Boomerang Stakes.”
Current Option has gone from strength to strength since Shamrock Thoroughbreds purchased him as a horse in training for 85,000gns. Owned by Shamrock Thoroughbreds with BT O’Sullivan and Dooley Thoroughbreds, the son of Camelot was bred by Grangecon Holdings.
