Son Of Sioux Nation Captures Valuable Prize In Qatar

Talented globetrotter Brave Emperor (4g Sioux Nation – Roman Gal, by Holy Roman Emperor) gained his most valuable win to date in Saturday’s Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup at Doha.

Archie Watson’s charge was last seen in November when bolting up in a Group 2 at San Siro, marking his fifth Stakes win across three countries in 2023. Reunited with regular rider Luke Morris, the British raider raced prominently throughout the mile contest and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. He kept on well in the closing stages to deny a late challenge by Ballydoyle’s representative Cairo by a neck.

“Everyone adores him,” revealed Tim Palin of Middleham Park Racing. “He's a credit to the team and I'm running out of superlatives to describe him. You send him anywhere in the world and he still runs his race – he's such a hero. You need a willing partner and there's nobody better than Brave Emperor.”

Saturday saw Brave Emperor’s earnings pass the £545,000 mark, in a career of ten wins and four placings from 16 starts. Bred by Caroline Hanly and Sean Ronan, he hails from the impressive first crop of Sioux Nation.
