A son of dual Derby hero Australia provided an early highlight to the opening day of Tattersalls October 2 when selling to Philippa Mains for 300,000gns.

Offered by Galbertstown Stud on behalf of John Hayes, the May-born colt is a half-brother to Group 2 heroine Creggs Pipes, they counting their second dam as Italian Oaks winner Nydrion.

Mains outbid Blandford Bloodstock’s Richard Brown to secure the chestnut and afterwards revealed that he had been bought on behalf of owner Jon Kelly, to be trained by Jessica Harrington. “He's a cracking horse,” the agent said, adding, “The half-sister was Listed-placed yesterday so the mare looks to be producing good stock.”
