Son Of Getaway Digs Deep For Maiden Hurdle Success
A step up in trip saw Terrierman (5g Getaway - Dibella, by Observatory) get off the mark over hurdles at Southwell on Tuesday.
Successful between the flags for Jane Price in March, he finished a promising third over two miles and six furlongs last month on his first start for Dan Skelton. Sent off favourite to make it second time lucky, he tracked the leader for much of the three mile maiden hurdle and led from two out. Coming under pressure after the final flight, he held off Mercian Knight to win by three parts of a length under Harry Skelton, with all of 42 lengths back to the third horse.
Owned by Jane Price, Neil Price and Keith Loads, Terrierman was bred by William and Patricia Doyle. The son of Getaway is the first foal out of Dibella, whose four-year-old son The Road To Fame (Fame And Glory) finished second in a Punchestown bumper that same day.
