Son Of Getaway Proves A Class Apart In Novice Hurdle

The progressive Zacony Rebel (7g Getaway - Bay Rebel, by Oscar) produced his best performance to date when drawing clear in Thursday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Ludlow.

The Toby Lawes-trained bay got off the mark in October and was last seen claiming runners-up honours in a competitive contest at Huntingdon. Sent off favourite on Thursday, he was ridden more prominently by Tom Cannon and led after the fourth last. Pushed along approaching the next, he gained a clear advantage by the penultimate flight and needed little encouragement to draw 12 lengths clear on the line.

Owned by Andrew and Sarah Wates, Zacony Rebel was bred by Brendan Walsh out of a sister to Grade 3 winner Ttebbob (Milan).
