Vinnie’s Getaway Not For Catching At Stratford

Irish point-to-point winner Vinnie’s Getaway (5g Getaway - Trixskin, by Buckskin) appears to have a bright future under rules after running out an impressive 12 length winner of Tuesday’s bumper at Stratford.

A three length winner at Borris House on debut for Denis Murphy, the bay was subsequently purchased privately and is now trained by Olly Murphy for B McDonald and B Mellon. A fine second on his first start for new connections last month, he benefitted from a change of tactics on Tuesday, as Fergus Gregory rode him to make all. Pushed to go clear a furlong out, he extended his advantage with ease as the favourite was left to claim runners-up honours.

Vinnie’s Getaway was bred by John Horse and was sold at the Derby Sale by Mount Eaton Stud to Alan Harte for €60,000. He is a half-brother to Cousin Vinny, winner of the champion bumper at both Cheltenham and Punchestown.
