Tiz The Law head shot

$335,000 Colt Leads Way for Tiz The Law In Book 3

Tiz The Law yearlings continued to be well received by buyers during the third book of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, led by a $335,000 purchase early in the book.

Purchased by MV Magnier and Ron Winchell, the colt was consigned by Denali Stud and is a half-brother to the stakes winner and Grade II-placed Keesha. The duo is out of a Tapit daughter who is a 100% producer and is of three dams from three listed on the page to produce at least one stakes winner.

This colt’s second dam produced Grade III winner Shumoos and stakes winner Steady On and is a full sister to the Grade II winning Cat Fighter. Those under the colt’s dual Grade I winning third dam Strategic Maneuver also include Grade III winner Jennifer Lynnette and the stakes winning duo of Good Luck Gus and Texas Long Bow.

Keesha had another Tiz The Law colt this year.

A $290,0000 colt was the second most expensive for the four-time Grade I winner during the third book when Mossarosa purchased him from the Eaton Sales consignment.

The colt sold just three hips before the $335,000 offering and is the second out of the winning Malibu Moon mare Kathy’s Clown. That mare is a three-quarter sister to multiple stakes placed Malibu Fame and is one of four winners from four to race out of Maria’s Dane.

Maria’s Dane is a half-sister to the Grade II winner Raw Silk, who has been in the headlines in recent years as the dam of No Nay Never’s stakes winning No Nay Hudson.

Other Tiz The Law yearlings to sell during Book 3 brought $250,00, $240,000, $130,000, etc. His 22 sold at Keeneland thus far are averaging $192,000 with a median of $125,000.
