Daughter Of Yeats Gains Well-Deserved Win
Sunday saw the consistent Villainess (6m Yeats – En Vedette, by Astarabad) gain a deserved win in the mares’ maiden hurdle at Stratford.
The Richard Bandey-trained mare was sent off favourite for the two mile hurdle, having finished second in similar contests on her first two starts over hurdles. She travelled strongly in a prominent position under Harry Bannister and led from two out. Pushed along at the final flight, she kept on to score by a length and a half.
Owned by Mrs JA Thomas, Villainess has also placed on debut in a bumper. The Vambeck Bloodstock-bred bay is a full-sister to the Grade 2 placed hurdler Sabrina (Yeats).
