Nine On Offer In-Foal to Champion Epicenter at Keeneland January
Nine in-foal mares represent Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Epicenter at next week’s Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale with all but one selling in Book 1.
The second offering in foal to Epicenter is Hip 60, the Buckland Sales-consigned Osage Treaty.
Carrying her second foal, the Declaration of War mare is a half-sister to champion and multiple stakes winner Modernistic and the stakes-placed duo of Siding Spring and Fayette Warrior. Osage Treaty’s dam Legendary Peace is a half-sister to Grade I winner Ermine and multiple stakes winner and stakes producer White Clover.
All three of Osage Treaty’s dams on the page have produced stakes performers with two of them producing stakes producers as well. In all, there are five stakes winners and four other stakes performers named under her first three dams.
A granddaughter of Canadian champion Dancethruthedawn sells with Taylor Made Sales as Hip 142.
Carrying her first foal on a March 24 cover, Spirit Dance is a three-quarter sister to stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed Dance Again and half-sister to the Grade III-placed Swoop and Strike. Both mares have produced their own stakes performers with those horses including American Pharoah’s stakes placed Swoop To Finish.
Dancethruthedawn is also the granddam of Grade I winner Moreno and is a full sister to stakes winner Scatter The Gold and two other stakes performers in addition to being a half-sister to Grade II winner Dance With Ravens. The foal Spirit Dance is carrying is bred on the same Not This Time x Ghostzapper cross as three-time Grade I winner Up To The Mark.
The dam of Mendelssohn’s stakes placed Awesome Ruta from her first foal, Awesome Prayer sells through Fort Christopher’s Thoroughbreds as Hip 234.
Awesome Prayer is out of the Grade I-winning Malibu Prayer, whose other daughters also include the dam of the stakes winning Cros Parantoux. The duo out of Malibu Prayer are the latest successful producers from the family with Malibu Prayer’s dam also producing multiple graded stakes winner Valid and her granddam producing Grade I winner Swagger Jack.
Carrying her second foal by Epicenter on a March 23 cover, the stakes winner and graded stakes placed Sav is offered by Mulholland Springs as Hip 516.
The earner of $311,355 with 13 top three starts in 20 starts, Sav is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes placed Cooler Mike. Sav’s dam Executive Affair was a winner herself and a successful producer with 12 winners from her 13 starters. Executive Affair’s dam did the same with her own runners, her stakes performers three of eight winners from 10 to race.
A winner of 10 of her 19 starts, the stakes winning Tiz an Edventure visited Epicenter after ending her career with an Allowance Optional Claiming victory last March and is offered as Hip 582 by Grovendale Sales.
One of five winners out of the stakes placed Triune, Tiz An Edventure is a half-sister to the dam of stakes winner Rarified Flair with the mare’s 2-year-old also breaking her maiden in September. Others on the Tiznow daughter’s page also include Grade I winner Corinthian and Grade II winner Desert Hero with seven stakes winners overall.
Grade II-placed Union Lake is the last offering in foal to Epicenter as Hip 821.
The Mulholland Springs offering is carrying her first foal on an April 16 cover, covered two months after finishing her career in a Grade III. Union Lake is one of three winners from four to race out of the five-time winning Tale of the Cat mare Donnatale with that group including 13-time winner Tel Aviv.
Donnatale is a half-sister to the stakes winner and Grade III-placed Heavenly Score. There are stakes performers under each of the first four dams on the page with seven mares on the page producing stakes performers.
The Keeneland January Horses of All Ages sale kicks off on Monday and runs through Thursday with sessions starting daily at 10am ET.
