Australia Filly Battles Back For Maiden Success
Alpha Cru (3f Australia - Solfege, by Shamardal) dug deep to make a winning start for the David O’Meara yard in Sunday’s mile maiden at Pontefract.
Purchased privately after finishing fourth in a Leopardstown maiden for Andrew Slattery, the chesnut was ridden to track the leader by Danny Tudhope and produced a strong challenge approaching the two furlong marker. Ridden to lead a furlong later, she rallied under pressure to score by a neck, with the front pair drawing over four lengths clear of the third.
Now owned by Stephen Morris, Alpha Cru was bred by Ate Farms and Kinane Bloodstock.
