Smart Australia Filly Wins Maiden In Style
Joseph O’Brien’s promising filly Wemightakedlongway (2f Australia – Dont Ask Me At All, by No Nay Never) produced a smart performance to win Tuesday’s fillies maiden at Cork.
The daughter of Australia showed plenty of potential on debut last month, when she finished well to take third over course and distance. She showed the benefit of experience on Tuesday, as she made virtually all under Dylan Browne McMonagle and was pushed along two furlongs from home. She raced clear by the final furlong and kept on well to beat the favourite by two and a half lengths.
“She is a beauty,” said the winning rider. “She is a big girl and has improved plenty from her first run. It was very straightforward, she jumped, travelled and was still green in front but there is plenty of talent there. She will only get better with time.”
Owned by ES Racing, Wemightakedlongway was bred by Mrs Ann Marie O'Brien out of a homebred full-sister to Group 2 runner-up Emphatic Answer (No Nay Never).
