Black-Type Targets Beckon For Latest Winner By Gleneagles

The well-bred One Morning (3f Gleneagles - All’s Forgotten, by Darshaan) kept on strongly to get off the mark in Friday’s fillies maiden at Newmarket.

The Michael Bell-trained bay finished second on debut when sent off favourite in a Newbury maiden and remained over the seven furlong trip on her second start. Ridden to track the leaders by William Buick, she made headway to lead two furlongs from home and began to draw clear with one rival. Running on strongly inside the final furlong, she won by a length and a quarter.

Owned and bred by Lady Bamford, One Morning is closely related to four Group performers, including Group 1 2,000 Guineas third Gan Amhras (Galileo). A step up in class may now be on the cards for the daughter of Gleneagles, who holds an entry in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
