Gleneagles Colt Two-From-Two After Group 3 Win

Impressive debut winner Lifetimes (2c Gleneagles – La Petite Virginia, by Konigstiger) maintained a perfect record when landing the Group 3 Preis des Winterfavoriten at Cologne on Sunday.

Peter Schiergen’s charge emerged as an exciting prospect when bolting up by ten lengths on German St Leger day and remained over the mile trip on his second start. Ridden to challenge approaching the two furlong marker, he ran on well to lead a furlong later and kept on well under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev to win by three parts of a length. Serienadler (Gleneagles) kept on in third.

“We do hope that he is one for the Derby next year,” said Moritz Becher, who owns the winner with Philip von Ullmann, Vinzenz Klemm and Dr Andreas Jacobs.

“He is definitely a very good horse,” the winning rider added. “He always works well and was the deserved winner here.”

Peter Schiergen won last year’s renewal with Geography (Holy Roman Emperor), and on his latest victor, said, “He has come along very well from his runaway maiden victory to here, where he had to fight for the first time. Fight he did and he did it well. I think he will be able to handle a longer trip.”

The unbeaten son of Gleneagles was bred by Gestut Fahrhof.
