Classy Son Of Australia Registers Second Success
The highly-rated Swan Bay (3c Australia) recorded his second career success with a commanding performance at Roscommon on Monday evening.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge won his maiden by five lengths last season and followed up with a fine fourth in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes won by Luxembourg (Camelot). He was sent off favourite for Monday’s ten furlong contest and led from the early stages under Shane Crosse. Travelling best of the field at the two furlong pole, he was ridden approaching the final furlong and kept on well to win by two and a half lengths in comfortable fashion.
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Brendan Powell said, “He's very laid-back and he'll stay all day. Shane said every time he heard something coming to him he kept picking up. There could be improvement in him.”
A 110,000gns yearling purchase by his trainer, Swan Bay is owned by the Lloyd J Williams Syndicate. The son of Australia was bred by Lynchbages Edgeridge Ltd and Glenvale Stud.
