Daughter Of Australia Breezes To Group 3 Success
Tranquil Lady (3f Australia - Repose, by Quiet American) earned quotes of 7-1 for the Epsom Oaks with an impressive success in the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes at Naas.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained chesnut travelled strongly behind the leaders for much of the ten furlong contest and improved to lead from two furlongs out. Ridden clear approaching the final furlong, she ran on well to score by four lengths in comfortable fashion under Dylan Brown McMonagle. Lily Pond (Galileo) claimed runners-up honours, finishing five and a half lengths clear of the field.
“We think she's a nice filly and she looked it today,” O’Brien said after the race. “The Oaks is definitely a conversation we'll have with Richard (Ryan) and Jim (Cockburn) now.”
Owned by Teme Valley Racing and bred by Tinnakill Bloodstock, Tranquil Lady won her maiden impressively last season, ending the year with a fine second at Stakes level. The daughter of Australia continues a successful period for her dam, with half-brother State Of Rest (Starspangledbanner) having gained his third Group 1 win in Sunday’s Prix Ganay.
