Daughter Of Australia Doubles Up In Style
Alpha Cru (3f Australia - Solfege, by Shamardal) made it two from two for the David O’Meara stable when running out an impressive winner at Pontefract on Sunday.
Purchased privately after finishing a promising fourth on her sole two-year-old start for Andy Slattery, the daughter of Australia made a winning debut for owner Stephen Morris over course and distance of a mile last month. Sent off favourite at the weekend, she chased the pace under David Nolan and was shaken up to lead approaching the two furlong marker. Pushed along to race clear a furlong later, she was eased down close home to win by three and a half lengths.
Bred by Ate Farms and Kinane Bloodstock, Alpha Cru is the first foal out of Group performer Doe Ray Me, who has a two-year-old full-sister to the winner.
