Daughter Of Australia Proves A Class Above Her Rivals
Feathertop (3f Australia - Mt Of Beatitudes, by Fastnet Rock) eased clear to run out an impressive 12 length winner of the fillies’ maiden at Gowran Park on Tuesday.
The Jessica Harington-trained bay finished third to a subsequent Group winner on debut and progressed to take second in another competitive maiden. Sent off favourite on Tuesday, she raced prominently throughout under Shane Foley and was travelling best of the field when leading from two furlongs out. Soon clear, she was eased down close home as her rivals fought for placings.
Feathertop’s impressive performance suggested black-type may be next on the agenda, on which Kate Harrington said, “There is the Finale Stakes over a mile-and-a-half on the last day of the season.” Next season should offer further progression, Harrington added, “I'd imagine she could stay in training for next year. She's a filly that's really only getting strong now and filling out.”
Owned by OTI Racing, the daughter of Australia becomes the first winner bred by China Horse Club out of Mt Of Beatitudes.
