Exciting Gleneagles Colt Captures Grade 3 In Japan

Shock Action (2c Gleneagles - Reset In Blue, by Fastnet Rock) followed up on an impressive maiden victory to take Sunday’s Grade 3 Niigata Nisai Stakes; providing Gleneagles with a first Japanese Group success.

A four length winner over course and distance earlier in the month, the Ryuki Okubo-trained bay was sent off second favourite for the mile contest. Racing midfield for much of the way under Keita Tosaki, he began to creep forward on the bend; racing wide throughout, and took third two furlongs out. Running on well, he led entering the final furlong and finished a length and three quarters clear of the favourite Blue Symphony in second.

The Godolphin-owned winner was purchased by Paca Paca Farm as a foal for 65,000gns. Bred by Scuderia Effevi and Dioscuri Srl, he hails from the second crop of top-class juvenile and dual Guineas victor Gleneagles.
