Game Australia Filly Goes On Better
Evening Blossom (3f Australia – Sacre Fleur, by Acclamation) built on last month’s narrow defeat to gain a deserved maiden win at Gowran Park on Saturday.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained filly had placed on four of her previous starts, most recently when beaten half a length by a well-regarded type at Naas. Sent off favourite under Declan McDonogh for the fillies’ maiden, she raced in second for much of the mile trip and improved to dispute approaching the final furlong. Ridden soon after, she ran on well to assert close home, leading by half a length on the line.
“She deserved to win,” said the winning trainer. “She had been consistent in all her runs this year and she was tough when she needed to be today. I'm delighted with her, she's genuine and Declan said that he felt there is still more to come from her.”
Owned by Brian Dolan, Evening Blossom was bred by Gestut Romerhoff on the same cross as Australia’s Group 1 winner Broome and multiple Group scorer Point Lonsdale.
