Holly Golightly (Gleneagles) Wins Her Maiden At Gowran Park

Gleneagles Blueblood Not For Catching At Gowran

A switch to turf saw Holly Golightly (3f Gleneagles - Cassandra Go, by Indian Ridge) get off the mark in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park, continuing a fine run of form for her sire Gleneagles.

Third last time out, Trevor Stewart’s homebred was ridden to make all by Gary Carroll and was pushed along upon entering the straight. Ridden from two furlongs out, she kept on well to win by a length and three quarters from Friendly (Galileo), with another half a length back to the favourite New York Angel (Zoffany) in third. The first three drew over four lengths clear of the field.

Shane Lyons, assistant to winning trainer Ger Lyons, commented, “Holly Golightly will get further and Gary said she's still very green so there is improvement to come from her. She's an exciting prospect.”

Holly Golightly is certainly bred to be special, being by top-class racehorse Gleneagles and out of King’s Stand Stakes heroine Cassandra Go. Her siblings include Halfway To Heaven, herself the dam of Magical (Galileo) and Rhododendron (Galileo), and Theann (Rock Of Gibraltar), herself the dam of Photo Call (Galileo) and Land Force (No Nay Never).
