Gleneagles Colt Battles For Stakes Success
A step up in trip saw Measure Of Time (3c Gleneagles - Inch Perfect, Theatrical) gain his first Stakes success in Sunday’s Listed Prix Michel Houyvet at Deauville.
Successful on his sole juvenile start, the Andre Fabre-trained colt won on seasonal return in June and was last seen finishing third in a Group 3 over a mile a half. Stepping up to a mile and six furlongs at the weekend, he tracked the leaders under Pierre-Charles Boudot and joined the leader approaching the two furlong pole. Running on well under pressure, the bay rallied to lead close home and denied the favourite Zeyrek by a head on the line.
Owned by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, Measure Of Time holds an entry in next month’s Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris. From the first crop of top-class miler Gleneagles, he becomes his sire’s sixth Stakes winner.
