Gleneagles Colt Follows Up On Promising Debut
Sir Rumi (3c Gleneagles - Reine Des Plages, by Danehill Dancer) built on a fine debut run just 12 days ago to win Tuesday’s Novice Stakes at Nottingham.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt was sent off favourite for the extended mile contest following his close fourth in the Wood Ditton Maiden Stakes at Newmarket. Rossa Ryan took the ride once again on Tuesday, positioning the chesnut behind the leader and led after the three furlong marker. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he ran on strongly to deny the fast-finishing King Of Clubs, as they drew clear of the field.
Owned by Amo Racing, Sir Rumi was bought by Peter and Ross Doyle as a yearling for €160,000. The son of Gleneagles hails from the family of Rail Link and Linda’s Lad.
