Gleneagles Colt Quickens Clear At Saint Cloud
Elamaz (3c Gleneagles - Emiyna, by Maria’s Mon) produced a smart performance to get off the mark in Saturday’s mile maiden at Saint-Cloud.
Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard for owner/breeder HH Aga Khan, the son of Gleneagles was narrowly denied on his sole juvenile start and returned last month to claim runners-up honours once again. Sent off favourite on his third attempt, the bay tracked the leaders under Tony Piccone and produced a challenge two furlongs from home. Running on well under hands and heels, he led a furlong later and quickened clear to win by two and a half lengths, going away.
A step up in class may now be on the cards for Elamaz, who holds entries in the Poule d’Essai Des Poulains, Prix du Jockey Club and Grand Prix de Paris.
