San Pedro (Gleneagles) winning his maiden at Leopardstown

Gleneagles Colt Storms Clear At Leopardstown

San Pedro (2c Gleneagles - Elle Woods, by Lawman) raced home an impressive winner of Saturday’s seven furlong maiden at Leopardstown.

Settled behind the leaders by Donnacha O’Brien, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was travelling well approaching the turn for home and improved on the outside to lead a furlong and a half from home. Ridden clear, he stayed on strongly to win by five and a half lengths.

Aidan O’Brien later revealed that a step up in class awaits San Pedro, saying, “He has progressed with every run and as well as being tough and genuine, he has speed. I'd imagine he'll start off in a Guineas Trial next year.”

Gleneagles’ latest winner was bred by Kilcarn Stud, who sold him at the Goffs Orby Sale for €110,000 to MV Magnier. He is out of the highly-rated Elle Woods, a half-sister to Group 3 winners Burnt Sugar and Brown Sugar.
