Gleneagles Filly Doubles Up Impressively
The improving Freyja (2f Gleneagles - Crystal Valkyrie, by Danehill) ran out an impressive winner of Wednesday’s Novice Stakes at Beverley to follow up on her course and distance win at the end of August.
Sent off favourite for the seven and a half furlong contest, she made all under Joe Fanning and began to push clear from two furlongs out. Extending her advantage with ease, she won by four lengths on the line.
Trained by Mark Johnston for Mrs Antoinette Kavanagh, Freyja provides a timely update for her full-brother catalogued at next month’s Goffs Orby Sale. The pair were bred by Christopher Hanbury and are half-siblings to Australia Group 3 winner Above Average (High Chaparral) and prestige Stakes heroine Sent From Heaven (Footstepsinthesand).
Freyja comes from the first crop of top-class miler Gleneagles, who commands €30,000 at Coolmore Stud.
