Gleneagles Filly Makes A Perfect Start
Perfect Times (2f Gleneagles - Al Janadeirya, by Oasis Dream) produced an impressive turn of foot when making a winning debut in Monday’s Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Kempton.
The Mark Johnston-trained bay was outpaced in the early stages of the six furlong contest, but showed a determined attitude when asked to challenge by Franny Norton. Making good headway approaching the final furlong, she kept on well to win by two lengths.
Franny Norton admired the winner’s attitude, commenting after the race, “Perfect Times was a bit slow on her feet and she was getting the full pelt of the kickback, and when I was able to latch on to the back end of them she was still a little bit intimidated by them, so she had to learn from that. Then she came home and I'm pleased for her. She's a lovely-natured horse.”
There should be more to come from the Times Of Wigan homebred, who becomes the fourth winner out of Al Janadeirya. Perfect Times hails from the second crop of top-class miler Gleneagles, who was responsible for two Group 2 winners last season.
