Gleneagles Filly Makes Winning Return For Chappet

Digression (3f Gleneagles – Daltiana, by Selkirk) built on a promising two-year-old career to take the Prix Atalante at Angers on Friday.

Twice placed in similar contests last season, she was one of eight fillies to line up for the maiden and race towards the back of the field for much of the seven furlong contest. Quickening as they turned for home, she was driven out in the straight and led close home to win by a half a length.

Trained by Fabrice Chappet for Antoine Gilibert and owner/breeder Ecurie des Charmes, Digression is joined at the Chappet stable by her two-year-old brother by The Gurkha.

Digression comes from the first crop of Gleneagles, whose son Measure Of Time extended his unbeaten record earlier in the week and is now poised for a step up in class. Gleneagles’ week could improve further, with Royal Lodge Stakes victor Royal Dornoch taking part in the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday.
