Gleneagles Filly One To Watch After Impressive Debut

Star Seeking (2f Gleneagles - Saturn Girl, by Danehill Dancer) shaped like an exciting prospect when making a winning debut at Leicester on Monday afternoon.

The daughter of Gleneagles had evidently shown some promise at home, given that she was sent off joint-favourite for the seven furlong fillies’ contest. William Buick rode Sir Michael Stoute’s charge close to the pace, improving to lead approaching the final furlong and soon looked the obvious winner.

Eased down heavily, the winning margin of a length belies the impressive nature of her performance, though it did not go unnoticed by the TDN, who honoured Star Seeking with ‘Rising Star’ status.

Speaking after the race, William Buick said, “It was a smart performance. She travelled well through the race and it was a nice way to start her career.”

Owned by Michael Tabor, Star Seeking was bred by Coolmore out of a winning half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Livadiya and to the dam of dual Group 1 winner Linngari.

She hails from the second crop of top-class racehorse Gleneagles, who recently sired his first Japanese Group winner when exciting juvenile Shock Action took the Niigata Nisai Stakes. The son of Galileo is responsible for seven individual Stakes winners to date, while another five of his progeny have gained black-type.
