Gleneagles Filly Silence Please Makes It Two From Two

Group 1 Aims For Unbeaten Gleneagles Filly

Sunday saw Silence Please (2f Gleneagles - Crazy Volume, by Machiavellian) make it two from two when taking the Irish EBF Premier Nursery at Cork in the colours of new owners Team Valor and Gary Barber.

US connections purchased the filly privately after her winning debut over seven furlongs in July and she remained in the care of Jessica Harrington, who kept her at the same trip for her second start. Carrying joint top weight with the favourite Royal County Down (Gleneagles), she tracked the leaders under Shane Foley and was pushed along from the three furlong pole, improving to dispute the lead inside the final furlong. Staying on well, she asserted the advantage close home and won by a neck.

A step up in trip and class may now be on the cards for the winner, according to her trainer, who commented after the race, “I'm delighted with that because she's the first horse I've had for Team Valor, so that was kind of important. She's going to be a nice staying filly for next year. She's in the Moyglare and she might go there.”

Bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud, Silence Please is a half-sister to Gallante (Montjeu), a Group 1 winner in both Australia and France. Their dam, Crazy Volume, has Camelot filly catalogued to sell at Tattersalls next month.
