Jumbly (Gleneagles) selling for 1.25 million guineas at Tattersalls

Group Performers By Gleneagles Light Up Tattersalls

Gleneagles enjoyed another memorable day at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale, where a pair of his daughters sold for a combined 1.81 million Guineas.

First to light up the ring on Tuesday was dual Stakes winner Jumbly (3f Gleneagles - Thistle Bird, by Selkirk), who was knocked down to MV Magnier and Joseph O’Brien for 1.25 million guineas. Offered by Barton Sales on behalf of Harry and Roger Charlton’s Beckhampton House Stables, the Rothschild’s homebred enjoyed a recent update when half-brother Epictetus finished second to August Rodin in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy.

The daughter of Gleneagles may provide her own updates next season, if O’Brien proves correct. “She’s a beautiful filly and we’ve been very lucky with the sire," the trainer said. "Her sibling looks like he’s a very good horse and we’re hoping that she’ll progress like most of her family have done to date. She’s an exciting filly for next year.”

Three lots later, Group performer Precious Moments (5m Gleneagles - Tarbela, by Grand Lodge) sold to Mascalls Stud for 560,000gns.

Offered in foal to Wootton Bassett by Baroda Stud, the former Ballydoyle inmate boasted a fine race record, led by her Group 2 second in the Airlie Stud Stakes won by subsequent Group 1 winner Albigna (Zoffany). The daughter of Gleneagles added a Group 3 placing to her CV as a three-year-old in the Leopardstown Fillies Trial.
