Hot Run Continues For Gleneagles With Group 3 Success
Insinuendo (4f Gleneagles - Obama Rule, by Danehill Dancer) continued a fantastic start to the season for Gleneagles when staying on strongly to win the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes at Naas.
Successful on debut in September, Willie McCreery’s charge was a fast-finishing third over seven furlongs last month and made a step back up in trip to ten furlongs on her third start. Held up by Declan McDonogh, the bay made headway from three furlongs out and was ridden approaching the final furlong. Running on well, she led close home and scored by three parts of a length on the line.
“Declan said she loved that ground and she fought hard,” the winning trainer later said. “The plan was to get her black type and we have that now.”
Owned by the DM Deegan Partnership, Insinuendo was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud out of fellow Group 3 winner Obama Rule (Danehill Dancer). Saturday’s Stakes success bodes well for her three-year-old full-brother The Orient (Gleneagles), who is in training with Aidan O’Brien.
Insinuendo’s win comes a week after Baby Rider (Gleneagles) completed a hat-trick in the Group 2 Prix Greffuhle, while Too Soon To Panic (Gleneagles) captured the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes on Wednesday.
