Lots To Like About Debut Winner By Australia
Monday saw the William Haggas-trained Dhabyah (3f Australia - Sola Gratia, by Monsun) lead home a 1-2 for Australia in the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Haydock.
Racing in the colours of Al Wasmiyha Stud, Dhabyah was the sole newcomer to line up for the contest run over just short of a mile and a half. Slowly into stride under Daniel Tudhope, she made headway from over two furlongs out and led inside the final furlong, running on to score by a length and three quarters from Coconut (Australia) in second.
There should be more to come from the winner, according to Tudhope, who said, “It was a nice performance as it looked like a hot race. Dhabyah didn't really know what to do and she'll come on a lot for the run.”
Dhabyah’s pedigree would also suggest a progressive profile, given that the daughter of Australia is out of a full-sister to top-class performers Samum and Schiaparelli. Bred by Gestut Karlshof, Dhabyah sold for €210,000 as a yearling.
