Mohawk heads G2 1-2-3-4-5 for Coolmore sires
Mohawk (2c Galileo-Empowering, by Encosta De Lago) looked another live 2019 Classic prospect for Galileo when leading home a 1-2-3 for trainer Aidan O’Brien and a 1-2-3-4-5 for Coolmore stallions in the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Mohawk prevailed by a length and a a quarter from Sydney Opera House (2c Australia-Sitara, by Salse) with Cape Of Good Hope (2c Galileo-Hveger, by Danehill) in third. War Command son’s Victory Command (2c War Command-Aguinaga, by Machiavellian) was fourth and Arthur Kitt (2c Camelot-Ceiling Kitty, by Red Clubs) was fifth for Camelot.
"He's been coming along lovely,” said O’Brien of Mohawk. “He loved going a mile and he'll be a lovely middle-distance horse next year. He might not run anymore this year and we could put him away for the Classic trials."
O’Brien’s wife Annemarie and family bred Mohawk.
