More To Come From Well Bred Son Of Australia
The well-bred Safari Quest (3g Australia - Lucy Diamonds, by Orpen) continued his stable’s fine form when getting off the mark in fine style at Gowran Park on Wednesday.
Placed twice previously, the Ger Lyons-trained bay was sent off favourite for the maiden under Colin Keane and raced prominently throughout. Travelling well with three furlongs left to race, he kept on well to win by two lengths from his nearest market rival Rekero (Fastnet Rock).
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Shane Lyons said, “He’s like his full-sister Roca Roma and will be a nice horse when he fills into his frame as a four-year-old.”
Three-time winner Roca Roma (Australia) finished second at Group 3 level last month, while half-brother Beauty Flame (Footstepsinthesand) was a Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed on multiple occasions. All three were bred by Tommy Murphy.
