O’Brien Digs Deep To Secure Promising Son Of Australia
Patrick Sarsfield (3c Australia - Ultra Appeal, by Lawman) lit up the Tattersalls sales ring when selling to Joseph O’Brien for 230,000gns on the opening day of the July Sale.
After successfully outbidding the Badgers Bloodstock team, O’Brien commented, “Obviously, his form has worked out very well, though he’s been off for a while since then. He’s a nice horse, by a sire who’s doing well, and he could be a good middle distance horse next year.”
O’Brien bought the colt on behalf of an existing client and the form he was referring to were two placings in strong maidens as a juvenile. He chased home Madhmoon and Sydney Opera House on debut, finishing second to the latter on his next start at the Curragh.
