Pair Of Six Figure Sales For Saxon Warrior On Day 2 Of Tattersalls
A colt from the first crop of Saxon Warrior continued his sire’s bright start in the sales ring when selling for 160,000gns on Day 2 of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
A bay son of Listed winner Aktoria topped the tables for much of the day, his price provided by Camas Park Stud, whose Timmy Hyde said of Saxon Warrior, “He was a hell of a racehorse. One of the best racehorses for many, many years.”
Bred in France by Leonidas and Marina Marinopoulos, the handsome colt was offered by Highclere Stud and Lady Carolyn Warren was expecting great things in the sales ring. “I think there'd been a very good vibe about the horse, as indeed I think it has been of all the Saxon Warriors,” she said, adding, “I think he’s getting great stock and this horse is testament to that, but there are others as well.”
There were, indeed, ‘others’, including Glashare House Stud’s half-brother to Stakes performer Ventura Knight, who was knocked down to Camas Park Stud for 100,000gns. Newsells Park Stud was another to reap the rewards with their colt out of Cay Dancer, who sold to Fairway Partners for 78,000gns, while Norelands Stud sold the first foal out of Take A Deep Breath to Mags O’Toole for 68,000gns.
A successful day saw Saxon Warrior’s first foals average 80,333gns. The son of Deep Impact previously enjoyed success at the JRHA Select Sale, where his only foal fetched 41 million Yen (€335,000).
