Pricey Gleneagles Colt Delivers On Debut

The well-supported Mill Stream (2c Gleneagles - Swirral Edge, by Hellvelyn) made a perfect start to his career in Thursday’s six furlong maiden at Doncaster.

A 350,000gns yearling purchase, Jane Chapple-Hyam’s newcomer was sent off favourite under Adam Kirby, who settled the bay in midfield. Shaken up approaching the two furlong marker, he quickened between horses to lead a furlong later and ran on well under hands and heels to deny the more experienced Endeared by a head on the line. The pair finished two lengths clear of the third.

Owned by PW Harris, Mill Stream was bred by Redpender Stud out of a winning half-sister to Listed winner Fashion Queen.
