Progressive Australia Colt Produces Career Best Performance
Land Of Oz (3c Australia - Madame Defarge, by Motivator) continues to go from strength to strength as he landed the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon.
The Sir Mark Prescott-trained colt was sent off favourite to gain his sixth win of the season, despite stepping up to two miles and two furlongs for the first time. Luke Morris held the chesnut up at the back of the field and began to make gradual progress with six furlongs left to race. Travelling well when taking the lead over two furlongs out, he stayed on to win by a length and a half.
On future plans, Sir Mark Prescott commented, “Land Of Oz is a very progressive horse but he won't get into the Cesarewitch so that may well be it for the year. Hopefully he could make the race next year.”
Owned by John Brown and Megan Dennis, Land Of Oz was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock as a yearling for 90,000gns. He was bred by Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs out of a black-type half-sister to Grade 3 winner Gender Agenda and the dam of Group 1 winner Pretty Pollyanna.
