Progressive Australia Colt Rallies For Maiden Victory
Bushfire (2c Australia - Aflame, by Shamardal) showed an admirable attitude when rallying to win Friday’s mile Novice Stakes at Newbury.
A promising third last time out, Hughie Morrison’s charge was sent off favourite under James Doyle, who rode him to track the leaders. Joining his rivals two furlongs from home, he was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and dug deep under pressure to win by a head. My Mate Ted (Caravaggio) made a promising debut in second, with the pair drawing four and a half lengths clear of the field.
Bred by Kincorth Investments, Bushfire is owned by Michael Kerr-Dineen and Martin Hughes.
