Araminta (Gleneagles) Wins The Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood

Progressive Gleneagles Filly Follows Up In Chantilly Group 3

Araminta (3f Gleneagles – Mince, by Medicean) maintained an upward curve when recording back-to-back Stakes wins in Sunday’s Group 3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly.

An impressive debut winner in April, the Henry Candy-trained filly finished third at Listed level next time out and progressed to win the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes (pictured) on her third start. Dropping back to nine furlongs on Sunday, she chased the leaders under Gerald Mosse and began her challenge approaching the two furlong marker. In front by the final furlong, she ran on well to score by a length and a quarter.

“She strode out well and did it very easily,” the winning trainer later commented. Looking to the future, Candy continued, “If she comes back in really good form we could think about the Nassau, although there’s not much time and it will be highly competitive. She’s an enormous filly and she’ll be even better next year I would imagine.”

Bred by Blue Diamond Stud, the talented daughter of Gleneagles is owned by St Albans Bloodstock, Acloque and Frost. She completed a smart double on the card for her sire, with German raider Gavea (2f Gleneagles – Goiania, by Oasis Dream) having captured the opening contest over seven furlongs.

Waldemar Hickst’s newcomer was hampered after the break, but recovered to lead under Cristian Demuro. Headed close home by Opera Mundi, she battled back gamely to win by a short head, with another six lengths back to the favourite in third.

Owned by Dr Christoph Berglar, the promising filly was bred by Gestut Fahrhof out of Goiania, who has a Saxon Warrior colt foal.
