White Caviar (Australia) Wins Her Maiden At Listowel

Sister To Galileo Chrome Gets Off The Mark

The well-related White Caviar (3f Australia - Curious Mind, by Dansili) took a step forward on Thursday to get off the mark in the mile and a half maiden at Listowel.

A full-sister to St Leger victor Galileo Chrome (Australia), Joseph O’Brien’s representative showed promise behind more experienced rivals on her first two starts and was reunited with Declan McDonogh at Listowel. Racing in midfield for much of the way, she improved from over four furlongs out and chased the leaders turning for home. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, she ran on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Speaking after the race, assistant trainer Brendan Powell said, “White Caviar stays well, is genuine and it is important to get a win into her as she has a lovely pedigree. Knowing Joseph, he'll look for black type now.”

The progressive daughter of Australia was bred by Mohamed Ali Meddeb out of a half-sister to St Leger third Michelangelo (Galileo).
