Smart Stakes Success Continues Stellar Run For Gleneagles
Too Soon To Panic (4f Gleneagles - Scream Blue Murder, by Oratorio) showed her class when running out a clear winner of the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park.
The Fozzy Stack-trained bay settled in third under Chris Hayes and began to make headway approaching the turn for home. Ridden to lead from two furlongs out, she went clear inside the final furlong to win by two lengths and three quarters from Empress Josephine (Galileo).
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Too Soon To Panic was deserving of that. She was kept in training at four with the hope of getting black type and she's a valuable asset now.”
Too Soon To Panic is a homebred for Mrs John Magnier and Gaynor Rupert’s Cayton Park Stud. Connections raced her dam Scream Blue Murder to win two Stakes races and her first two foals by Galileo achieved black-type on the track.
Too Soon To Panic becomes a second winner in as many days at the track by Gleneagles, who sired a new Group 2 winner on Sunday when Baby Rider landed the Prix Greffuhle.
