Son Of Australia Draws Clear To Maiden Victory
Deakin (3g Australia - Dealbata, by Dubawi) drew clear to gain a deserved win in Monday’s mile and a half maiden at Roscommon.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge finished third to a smart colt on debut last season and returned last month at the Curragh, where he caught the eye in fourth. Sent off the even-money favourite on Monday, he was ridden prominently by Dylan Browne McMonagle and was travelling strongly when leading from the two furlong pole. Soon clear, he went on to score by six lengths with ease.
Owned by OTI Racing, the progressive son of Australia was bred by Eric Peruari, A Gravereaux and partners.
