Son Of Australia Eases Clear To Maiden Victory

Proper Legend (3c Australia - Prosper, by Exceed And Excel) appeared to relish the step up in trip when running out a commanding winner of Thursday’s mile and a half maiden at Catterick.

William Haggas’ charge finished a promising fourth on debut last month and followed up with a fine third next time out at Windsor. Sent off favourite to make it third time lucky, the son of Australia raced prominently under David Allan and led from two furlongs out. Pushed clear inside the final furlong, he won by three and a half lengths with ease.

Owner KK Ho has enjoyed notable success with the progeny of Australia, including with last month’s Listed winner Canberra Legend and the unbeaten Oceania Legend. His latest winner was bred by China Horse Club and sold to Avenue Bloodstock as a yearling for 140,000gns.
