Son Of Australia Gains Deserved Maiden Victory

Saturday saw Edge Of Darkness (3g Australia - Forces Of Darkness, by Lawman) gain a deserved maiden win in the Novice Stakes over a mile and a half at Thirsk.

Charlie Johnston’s charge showed promise as a juvenile, earning prize money on all his starts, and was well-supported to get off the mark at Thirsk. Chasing the leader under Andrew Mullen, he was travelling best of the field when leading before two furlongs out. Pushed along approaching the final furlong, he was ridden out to score by a length and three quarters.

The son of Australia was bred by COP Hanbury out of a half-sister to Group 2 Norfolk Stakes victor Waterloo Bridge (Zoffany) and Stakes performer Vanilla Gold (No Nay Never).
