Son Of Australia Gets Off The Mark In Good Style
Retracement (3g Australia – Piccadilly Filly, by Exceed And Excel) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism in Sunday’s mile maiden at Pontefract.
Third over the same trip earlier this season, the William Haggas-trained chesnut raced prominently at the weekend and led from two furlongs out. Ridden a furlong later, he kept on well under Tom Marquand to score by two and a half lengths, while Wind River (Sioux Nation) finished six and a half lengths clear of the third.
Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, Retracement was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock as a yearling for 120,000gns. The son of Australia was bred by Stockvale Bloodstock.
