Straightforward Maiden Victory For Son Of Saxon Warrior
Henry The Lion (2c Saxon Warrior - Silver Meadow, by Teofilo) ran out a comfortable winner on his second start at Marseille on Thursday.
A promising fourth on debut last month, the Jerome Reynier-trained colt was reunited with Antonio Orani for the mile maiden and chased the leaders for much of the way. Travelling best of the field as they entered the straight, the chesnut soon led and was pushed out to win by two and a half lengths, with the same distance back to the third.
Owned by Edware Ware, Henry The Lion was bred by Team Hogdala France and sold for €140,000 as a yearling. He continues a terrific start at stud by Saxon Warrior, whose first crop is led by Listed winner Victoria Road and Group 2 performer Thornbrook. His most recent winners include Rage Of Bamby, who made it two from two on Tuesday, while the highly-rated Greenland got off the mark on Monday.
