Tasmania (Australia) Wins The Listed Prix Charles Laffitte At Compiegne

Talented Daughter of Australia Draws Clear To Listed Win

Group 1 performer Tasmania (3f Australia - Tusked Wings, by Adlerflug) drew clear to her first Stakes success in Friday’s Listed Prix Charles Laffitte at Compiegne.

Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard for owner/breeder Gestut Schlenderhan, the daughter of Australia won her maiden at Saint-Cloud early in the season and followed up at Chantilly a month later. She went on to finish third to Blue Rose Cen (Churchill) in the Group 1 Prix de Diane and was unlucky in a Group 3 next time out when short of room at a vital stage. Sent off favourite on Friday, she was ridden patiently by Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and was last turning for home. Murzabayev oozed confidence as he cruised into contention, before pushing his mount along to lead two furlongs from home, with the chesnut finishing well to score by four lengths.

A return to Group level will presumably be on the cards for Tasmania, who is a half-sister to Stakes performer Task (Mastercraftsman).
