Well Bred Gleneagles Filly Impresses At Leopardstown
The well-bred Eylara (2f Gleneagles - Eytarna, by Dubai Destination) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism in Saturday’s seven furlong maiden at Leopardstown.
The Aga Khan homebred shaped with promise when finishing second over a mile last month and was reunited with Oisin Orr at the weekend. Tracking the leaders in the early stages, she was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and stayed on well to win by two lengths as Let It Bea (Zoffany) stayed on for second.
Speaking after the race, winning trainer Dermot Weld said, “She did it nicely and will be a lovely filly for next year. I expect her to make into a stakes filly next year. We'll start her in a Guineas trial and see where we go from there. What you see is what you get with her. She's a lovely genuine filly.”
From the second crop of Gleneagles, Eylara is a half-sister to three Stakes horses, out of a winning half-sister to Ascot Gold Cup winners Enzeli and Estimate.
